Summary of event

A Distinguished Lecture was delivered by Prof Alberto Heimler on 'Competition Policy, Innovation and Economic Growth'. This was held at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The Distinguished Lecture was chaired by Dr Rahul Khullar, a distinguished senior civil servant. Dr Khullar is the former Commerce Secretary Govt of India and the former Chairman of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI).

Profile of participants and speakers:

Prof Heimler is a well known expert in the area of Competition Law and Policy and he is  from the Scuola Nazionale dell'Amministrazione, (SNA),Rome, which is a partner institute in this project.

The lecture was attended by around 20 persons. Present in the audience was Mr Ashok Chawla, Chairman Competition Commission of India, Mr Augustine Peter, Member Competition Commission of India and Mr Sahoo, Member Competition Commission of India. Also present was Mr Dhanendra Kumar, former Chairman Competition of India and Mr Jayant Dasgupta, Former Indian Ambassador to the WTO. The EU Delegation was also present. Apart from these stalwarts, the audience included senior lawyers from major law firms, representatives of international organisations etc. the lecture began at 4 pm and ended with high tea.
